The leading provider of information to the repair industry, Mitchell Repair Information Company will be the first to provide its automotive repair system on a single DVD (Digital Versatile Disc). On June 1, 1998 Mitchell Repair will release a DVD version of its industry-leading repair information system, ON-DEMAND. This new technology will enable repair professionals to access repair data faster than ever before. With one single disk, DVD eliminates the need for technicians to swap disks when accessing repair information. "DVD represents the ultimate in convenience for ON-DEMAND customers," said David Peterson, Mitchell Repair Senior Vice President of Marketing. "Shops will save a significant amount of time on each repair by being able to access the data faster than ever before. The industry's most complete and accurate repair database is now clearly the easiest to use." Currently, technicians have to rummage through dozens of CDs to find the information they need. The current ON-DEMAND system consists of 10 CDs, but other information providers house their information on more than 20 CDs. The more CDs the technician has to choose from, the more time he's wasting and the less efficient the repair. Shops who choose the DVD option will need a DVD drive. These drives are similar in size and appearance to CD-ROM drives, but run DVD that can store more than 10 times the capacity of CDs. DVD drives can also read regular CDs too. Released nearly 10 years ago, Mitchell ON-DEMAND is the industry's leading repair information system. The release of a DVD option will coincide with the release of ON-DEMAND 4, a fully redesigned version of the popular shop software. For more information on DVD and ON-DEMAND 4, repair professionals can call Mitchell Repair toll-free at (888) 724-6742 ext. 6313. Headquartered in San Diego, California, Mitchell Repair Information Company has provided quality repair information services to the automotive industry for 80 years.
